Things move fast in New York. The cars, the people and most of all the law. Well, when it comes to arresting someone of felony gun charges. That’s exactly what happened to Troy Ave after a fatal shooting Wednesday night. Most in attendance were there for a T.I. concert; a shootout was more than they bargained for.
Just as fellow Brooklyn rapper, Maino, was finishing up his performance shots rang out in the green room area above the stage. Video camera footage shows the gunman coming out of a room wearing a gold chain and brandishing a handgun. Authorities later confirmed that it was Brownsville rapper, Troy Ave, firing the gun.
In the midst of the chaos, Troy Ave managed to shoot himself in the leg. Yes, you read that right. His injury was not fatal and he should make a full recovery. Levity aside, one of Troy Ave’s, bodyguards and close friends, Ronald McPhatter, was shot in the stomach. He died later at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. It is unclear if it was Troy’s gun that did the deed, or if there was any motive behind it. As of right now Troy Ave has been charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession.
