Wiz Khalifa on tour
Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy, DJ Drama, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich Homie Quan, Sage the Gemini, IAMSU!, Mack Wilds and a couple of surprise guest appearances turned up the Chicagoland area with the 10th leg of their Under the Influence of Music Tour last night.
With DJ Drama as the host of the show, the standards were already set to the highest bar for a guaranteed good time. He certainly brought the party for concert goers, whether you were at the stage, in a seat or on the lawn.
The tour brought a heap of talent from all sides of the U.S., mostly from the West Coast with IAMSU!, Ty Dolla $ign and Sage tearing up the stage with their club anthems that everyone rocked to. Mack Wilds showed us how the East Coast does it and Rich Homie Quan made us feel “Some Type of Way” about the dirty South.
The concert’s highlight perfomance was brought to us by ATL’s very own Jeezy. With a star-studded set and band to back him, he took us to his Thug Motivation days and back again with some of his biggest hits such as “Lose My Mind”, “Put On” and “Super Freak”. He even provided the 20,000+ crowd with some of our own hometown glory by bringing out Spenzo and Lil Durk. The Jizzle man also offered the crowd a few words of encouragement before closing with “Soul Survivor”, motivating the people to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.
“We in Chicago… ain’t no calling it Chi-Raq tonight!” Jeezy exclaimed.
After coming down from the clouds for a brief moment, we all had the Taylor Gang initiate, Mr. Khalifa himself, to start the jets back up for the night’s closing performance. In promotion for his long-awaited, upcoming studio album Blacc Hollywood, Wiz had the crowd chant “August 19!” as a friendly reminder of the LP’s release date. He performed some new music from the album, including his latest single “Staying Out All Night” but he could not go without playing some of the greats like “Black and Yellow”, “Roll Up” and “We Dem Boyz”.
The highlight of his performance occurred when he left the stage to join the crowd in the lawn to perform one of his new songs from the album, giving everyone an opportunity to have that up-close-and-personal experience.
Overall, the five-hour concert was a musical thrill that brought a diverse following and a memorable time.
