Just like he did in 2014, J. Cole is ready to end the year with a strong finish. Cole and Kendrick effectively shutdown Black Friday with two very potent remixes to each other’s records, “Alright” and “Tale of 2 Cities.” Taking K. Dot’s “Alright” for a spin, Cole teased a February release date for an upcoming project, but before 2016 even starts, he and his Dreamville collective offer up Revenge of the Dreamers II.
Last Friday, Cole joined Bas on his song “Night Job,” which served as the compilation album’s first release. Since then, Cole and the rest of his team teased the project’s arrival with a simple tweet, “1-888-88-DREAM.” Some fans got a comedic voicemail message from Cole, while a handful of them were lucky enough to talk to Cole and his manager Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, but the message’s larger purpose was to promote the impending release of Revenge of the Dreamers II.
As details continued to unravel, Revenge of the Dreamers II was slated for a December 11 release, but that’s changed and we’ve now got our hands on the new project! The nine-track boasts individual efforts from Cole, Bas, Cozz, Ari Lennox, Omen and lute. Most of them serve as featured guests on each other’s records along with Donnie Trumpet and Correy C.
